On 02 December 2017, I attended my first open mic event organized by a writer’s club ‘Between The Lines’. The budding poets and shayars recited their verses, thereby creating an electrifying atmosphere at the News Cafe, Inorbit Mall, Hyderabad.
I personally liked few of the poems that were read out prior to my chance to exhibit my poetry skills to the wonderful gathering on a Saturday evening.
It was a perfect platform for me to announce and share the good news of my personal achievement. yes. You’re right. I told the audience about my participation at the Kochi Literature Festival 2017. I will be launching my poetry book ‘Reminiscence’ at the Ernakulathapan Ground on 09 December 2017.
Harika, the hostess and founder of Between The Lines, announced my name as I was next person to read my poem. The audience welcomed me with a great cheer. I felt as if I was receiving royal treatment :).
I recited the poem ‘For Those At Kargil.’ This poem is close to my heart as I lost few of my friends in the Kargil War. The audience appreciated my poetry writing skills and wished me good luck for my Book Launch.

“My heart bleeds, my soul cries
Each time up there a soldier dies;
Fighting the cold, braving the snow,
They trudge ahead fearlessly.”

Open mic is a great networking platform for first time authors and poets as they can recite their creative pieces (poems, couplets/shayari, novel excerpts, etc.) to the target audience that includes voracious readers, budding authors/poets, creative aspirants, and book lovers.
